Steve Immerman is an American general surgeon based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who has devoted much of his career to pilonidal disease and the Bascom cleft-lift procedure. His pilonidal publications center on the principle that the deep natal cleft is a fundamental driver of disease, so successful surgery should not simply excise sinus tracts but should flatten the cleft and move the incision off the midline.
